No.1 Mountain stone inscription near Qianshou Trail was the work of Mi Fu, one of the 4 greatest calligraphers in the Song Dynasty. It is said to be written while Mi Fu traveling to Nanshan in Xuyi County, Jiangsu Province. Later in the Shaoxing reign period of the Song Dynasty, Minister Li Bing, who was quite fond of Mi Fu’s calligraphies, brought the rubbing back and inscribed on a tablet during his living in seclusion on Qingyuan Mountain. The stone tablet in Nanshan was destroyed in the war at the end of the Ming Dynasty, and Magistrate Guo of Xuyi County, who was from Quanzhou, took the rubbing back to Xuyi County, making it a story on everybody’s lips as the “No.1 Mountain” promoting the exchanges between the north and the south.
